U2tribe will take you on a journey that is the history of U2’s music, playing some of the cult classics like ‘Electric Co’ and ‘Out of Control’, to the passion of songs like ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday’, to the stadium staples of songs like ‘Where the Streets have no name’ and ‘Beautiful Day’ and also newer material from the past few years like ‘Vertigo’ and ‘Get on your Boots’ plus many more.

Ffli Friday – January 16th – The sex Pistols Experience.

: January 12, 2015 3:09 pm : Events, Update

ŚexPistols Eẋperience
The Sex Pistols Experience are The Worlds No1 professional tribute to the most outrageous & controversial band of all time. From their early beginnings performing pubs & clubs around England, they went on to make Worldwide reputation built from over 1,000+ performances. Having done extensive tours of the U.S.A (almost 100 U.S.A shows), toured throughout Europe, & Brazil South America, taking in cities from New York to Los Angeles, El Paso to Seattle, Sao Paulo, Rio De Janeiro, & Maringa, Berlin, Barcelona to Bradford & everywhere in-between.!

Screen Shot 2015-01-12 at 15.07.06

So convincing is the live show that the BBC, Sky TV, Channel4, Fox TV (in the U.S.) & lately the new movie ‘Who Killed Nancy?’ (out now on DVD) have all hired this band for re-enactments in film & T.V documentaries as the Sex Pistols/Sid & Nancy.

‘The Sex Pistols Experience’ are the only band to of had the thumbs-up of approval from the original Sex Pistols. Whilst on tour in America they were invited as ‘special guests’ on Jonesys Jukebox’ – the acclaimed radio show of Pistols guitarist Steve Jones. Spending the afternoon being interviewed & playing a few Pistols favourites live on air together to million’s of listeners throughout Los Angeles & across the Worldwide web!
They appeared with Glen Matlock at the Worlds only Pistols convention day in Liverpool Cavern Club in 2006.
Then Granddaddy of Punk, & infamous leader ‘Johnny (Rotten) Lydon’ himself gave the seal of approval in 2008 at the Sex Pistols Hammersmith after show party in London when front men ‘Johnny Rotter’ & ‘Johnny Rotten’ finally came face to face, with mutual respect shown all around… “Well good luck with it” – Lydon said as they parted.

Sid Vicious’ guitarist ‘Steve Dior’ performed live with them on stage at the legendary 100 Club, & the band tour regularly with ‘Ed Tenpole Tudor’ star of the Sex Pistols movie ‘The Great Rock’n’Roll Swindle’, (bookings with Ed Tenpole as special guest can be arranged).

Their show has perfected the look and sound down to every last detail as they sweat out every ounce of energy to make sure each concert is as dynamic, explosive, & exciting as the real deal. They have captured perfectly all the spirit & energy of the Sex Pistols at their blistering peak 1977 period, blended with the ability of the seasoned musicians of their later reformation tours.
A rare chance to hear all the classics live from one of the most influential albums of all time – ‘Never Mind
the Bollocks’. Ripping through gigs with rousing renditions of ‘Pretty Vacant’, ‘God Save The Queen’, ‘Anarchy in the U.K’, & ‘Holidays in the Sun’. But also taking influence from ‘The Great Rock’n’Roll Swindle’, & Sid’s Vicious solo album ‘Sid Sings’. No stone is left unturned with a few surprises, B sides & rarities thrown in the mix.

The Sunday Times ‘Style magazine’ voted ‘The Sex Pistols Experience’ as one of the ‘Top 50 Hottest things to see’ in summer 2008 – right above the ‘Download festival’ & right behind the re-formed Led Zeppelin..! They gained recognition in Las Vegas – the entertainment capital of the World – as ‘Pick of the Week’ of acts to see over the likes of Guns & Roses & Barry Manilow! Thereby elevating themselves to the top of the tree amongst the World’s most popular tribute bands. If you’re a Sex Pistols fan, this then this is the only worthwhile alternative – Who killed Bambi? – We did.! The Sex pistols Experience – a tribute to be proud of.!

December 12th Ffli Friday Hob Goblin + Bag Of Bones

: December 10, 2014 12:00 pm : Events, Uncategorized, Update

Hob Goblin

HobG

Newport, South Wales Punk Rock
A rare opportunity to see Newport punk rockers Hob-Goblin
Formed in a by-gone age, when Newport had shops, clubs and a music scene that was the talk of the country. A band that everyone has heard of but very few have experienced first-hand.
A Rare local gig, and your last opportunity of the year to raise a cheer and a glass of Sherry whilst joining in on a chorus of the legendary anthem “Christmas Sucks”
Hob-Goblin have built quite an impressive C.V over the years, sharing many a stage throughout the UK with Punk rock royalty and scene legends that include in no particular order … The English Dogs, GBH, Contempt, Peter and the Test Tube Babies, Discharge, The cowboy killers, Drongos For Europe , The Vile, No Muse, They have also been rumoured to of supported and influenced The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Madonna, Black Sabbath , Chuck Berry, Mozart, Beethoven and Peter Andre.
Hob-Goblin will have a cd (it’s not an album it’s a demo) available on the night to purchase/blag or swap featuring 9 new songs that will make perfect x-mas present for your Nan and other loved ones but is also a suitable present to the ones that you hate. Please ask the band for a copy of “Long time coming”, they will probably only be too happy to assist.

Bag of Bones

BOB

Formed in 2007, and rapidly rising to Pontypool’s / South Wales premier Rock band, securing top support slots with the likes of Irish alternative metal legends Therapy? , Ricky Warwick (The Almighty), LA Guns and Blaze Bayley (Ex Iron Maiden / Wolfsbane), Zodiac mind warp, to name just a few.
Bag of Bones have always done things their own way, ignoring the trends of overly distorted guitars and screaming / shouting vocals instead enticing crowds with catchy guitar driven music with vocal lines that are audible and memorable, no gimmicks just an exciting mix of Rock/Metal with a side order of punk rock.
Forward to 2014, feeling that they had unfinished business Bag of Bones return strengthening the line up with an additional guitarist, and rehearsing new and old tunes in preparation for 2015 and what promises to be a very busy year
Bag Of Bones will be playing at Pontypool’s only real music venue on December the 12th as part of a special “Its Friday night, let’s do a gig and get hammered” night, we accordingly invite you to join in with the festive Friday fun, where you can expect good beer, hopefully some decent music (depends on the amount of good beer they sample) and good company.
Leave your inhibitions at home, forget your problems, grab your girlfriend (or someone else’s) and let’s have a laugh.
Happy Days …

December 6th – The Decoy + The Undivided

: December 10, 2014 11:56 am : Before, Events

The Decoy UK
The Decoy is a three-piece alternative rock band from South Wales.

The Undivided
The Undivided formed in 2009 and since then have been making waves across the South Wales music scene and beyond with their anthemic brand of indie rock. Hailing from the South Wales valleys, they have gained a reputation as a blistering live act, delivering passionate performances that have swelled the ranks of their growing and dedicated fanbase.

Over the last couple of years they have gigged extensively over the UK, supported bands such as Ash and Excerts, played live sessions for BBC Wales and received great reviews for their live shows and 2011 EP ‘Machines”

Second EP “Safety” was released the tail end of 2011 and 2012 shaped up to be a big year for the band with high aspirations. They recorded their EP ‘Safety’ at Monnow Valley studios with Tom Manning at the helm and released to resoundingly strong reviews from sources such as Rock Sound, Kerrang and Big Cheese as well as video and radio play from NME, XFM and Kerrang TV. This prompted the band to be invited to play Merthyr Rock 2012 along with bands such as Razorlight and Kids In Glass Houses.

Now under new Management and not a band to slow down, 2013 saw them invited to showcase at Focus Wales, Canada’s Indie week in Dublin, and Ponty’s Big Weekend Fringe Event. They’re back writing in the studio working with Producer Romesh Dodangoda (known for working with Kids In Glass Houses, The Blackout, Funeral for a friend..) on the forthcoming album set for release March 2014.

They have been awarded funding from the Welsh Arts Council to support the release of the Album. A taster single was released on October 7th 2013 as they play their first showcase at Norwich, Sound and Vision, now already receiving airplay from BBC Radio1 Introducing, Nation Radio (Wales), Team Rock Radio and TBFM plus a number of other regional and online stations. As well as the Single making its way onto Big Cheese Magazine covermount CD October ’13 edition. This is a band that’s on its way and theres no stopping!

December 5th Ffli Friday Recluse + Between Waves + T.B.C.

: November 27, 2014 5:23 pm : Events, Update

Recluse

Recluse
“Recluse strike the right balance between classic rock and modern rock… their music is weighty and impressive”, Big Cheese Magazine (4/5). “Crooked Heart is a slow burning, chunky, bluesy, riff-fest”, Metal Talk. “Recluse Produce a heavy, bass filled sound laced with good, emotive vocals which do the well penned lyrics the justice they deserve. The drumming and guitar riffs are fantastic and the varied sound and up and down nature of the songs takes you on several well directed journeys as you listen”, Stereoboard. “The pure meat and noise produced from these three guys are so strong that once they’ve pierced your head you can almost feel your mind bleed” – Gig Reviewer

BW

Between Waves
Between Waves formed in May 2013. Formed from the ashes of Sumerian Eden. Sick of hearing the same old derivative and safe scream verse/ singing chorus format, Between Waves from day one were intent on creating a distinctive, original and power-full sound. Key word being BIG!! When you hear down tuned guitars you typically would expect noisy muddy music with a hell of a lot of screaming. This is not Between Waves, with tune full female vocals creating story based compositions that is instantly relatable to even the most stubborn of listener.
